Positive Material Identification

Positive Material Identification

By using a x-ray florescence technique a wide variety of ferrous and non ferrous materials can be identified. Most alloy elements can be seen with concentrations of each element found.. Steel, stainless steel, aluminum, nickel based, copper based and titanium materials can be identified. Equipment is sensitive enough to reliably sort whether the alloy is 316 or 321 stainless steel. Positive Material Identification is an NDT method which enables accurate verification of chemical properties of various ferrous and non ferrous materials. It does not have the ability to determine Carbon and Sulfur content of ferrous materials.

Key Benefits

  • Immediate result of alloy in question
  • No need to destroy part by having to cut sample out for analysis
  • Minimum surface preparation
